That day has finally arrived! The day that seemed so far off
in the future as new students arrived on campus to begin their years at Trinity
University. That day when students take a final step before moving on to the
next exciting stage of their lives. For parents it is often a mixture of
excitement and joy to see their child walk the stage for their diploma, and
perhaps even a bit of relief! For
students, not only is there the excitement of completing this big step, but
sometimes a bit of wistfulness at leaving behind the place that has been home
to them for four years, along with the friends who have been such a part of
their lives for those years.
Tehuacana, Waxahachie, and San Antonio, at both the Woodlawn
campus and Trinity Hill, have all been the scene of Trinity University
commencements. No matter the location, I
imagine many of those feelings of excitement have remained from the first two
graduates in 1871 to the current graduating class of 2015.
We’re celebrating commencement with an exhibit on the 3rd
floor of Coates Library. After viewing
the exhibit, come downstairs to Special Collections to discover additional memorabilia
from Trinity University commencements over the years.
